Christmas is a wonderful time of the year for most of us, but it can also be a lonely and sad time for many others... Wouldn't it be fantastic if we could help make Christmas a little better for someone else?

I recently learned that up to 40% of residents in aged care facilities go an entire year without a single visitor... This revelation shocked and saddened me... A visitor for every single resident would be a wonderful thing to arrange, but it is probably too big a challenge for the moment, so let's do the "Next Best Thing"

Let's get our children (Schools, Kindergartens, Scouts, Girl Guides, etc etc) to work on "Personalised Christmas Cards" for residents of aged care facilities in our/your local areas.

In a nutshell, a school would contact a local aged care facility to let them know that they would like to participate in #CardsAtChristmas and if possible, could the aged care facility provide a list of names of "Every" resident, with the view of the children making a Personalised Christmas Card for everyone on that list.

I floated the idea to staff at Dixons Creek Primary School (where my daughter was a student). The school was excited by the concept and created many #CardsAtChristmas for residents of our local aged care facilities (Healesville, Yarra Glen and Lilydale)

My message to you is, please contact your child's school, kinder or organisation and ask if they would like to create a few #CardsAtChristmas for residents of aged care facilities in your local area... It really is such a simple thing to do, yet it can be so rewarding for everyone involved.

Merry Christmas!
